Your soul is drawing you towards the Eternal City and you were wondering if there are things to do in Rome in November and the answer is “Yes, tons!”. Whenever I think about the best time to visit Rome, I keep returning to my belief that anytime is a great time to visit Rome.

If you don’t like big crowds or scorching heat, I would suggest that November is an amazing time to visit. The crowds are smaller and the heat has subsided which will allow you to walk around all day without getting overheated.

Is It Cold In Rome In November?

Rome is not too cold in November and is perfect for walking around, and even eating outside, but understand that I like eating outside in January and February, so my views might be a little skewed. November continues the decline of temperatures, so you will want to make sure to pack and dress in layers, like t-shirts, sweatshirts and light jackets so that whenever possible you can remove a layer and stay comfortable. Also, even though it isn’t too hot, if you are walking around you should still drink a lot of water.

The average low temperature in Rome in November dropped a bit from the previous month, but is a restful 45°F (7.2°C) and the average high temperature is an even more comfortable 62°F (16°C). As will all late fall and early winter months, the daylight is limited. The average amount of daylight in Rome is 9.8 hours. By the end of the month, sunset is at 4:40 PM and sunrise is at 7:16 AM.

For me, late fall and early winter are amazing times to visit Rome. According to ItaliaRail,  November is part of the shoulder season for travel to Rome, but it can still be a little crowded. Determining if it is too crowded is really up to you, but if you don’t like being in any crowds at all, then Rome might not be a good place for you because the tourist season is almost year round due to its popularity.

What Are The Important Italian Holidays In November?

You can feel the Christmas season in the air, and like in the US, it starts at the beginning of November with All Saints’ Day (Tutti i Santi / Ognissanti) on the First of the month. Even though All Saints’ Day is close to the American Halloween, don’t get them confused because All Saints’ Day is a traditional Italian holiday and a public holiday with closures of government offices, schools and some businesses.

There is also a more regional holiday in the northeastern city of Trieste, known as the Feast of San Giusto on November 2nd. This celebrates the patron saint of Trieste on the date of his death.

What Are The Best Things To Do In Rome In November 2024?

There are many interesting Rome events in November 2024 and you can see below that the major concert season is dwindling but smaller events are plentiful. A very good list of cultural events can be found on the RomeToday website. Here are some events in November that you might also want to be aware of:

  • Journey Into Pop Art: A New Way Of Loving Things (All Month) – The spaces of the Vaccheria in the Municipio IX Roma EUR are ready to welcome “Journey into Pop Art: a new way of loving things”, the new free-entry exhibition project curated by Giuliano Gasparotti and Francesco Mazzei, which will open to the public from September 13 to March 31, 2025 with approximately 200 works from private collections and collected by the Rosini Gutman Collection curated by Gianfranco Rosini. Spanning almost eight decades, the exhibition tells the story of the nonconformist and “popular” artistic movement by definition, capable of overcoming barriers and determining identification.
  • Laura Pausini World Tour Winter 2024 (From Nov 18th to Nov 19th) – This popular Italian performer will be bringing her tour to the Palazzo dello Sport for two nights only. After having sold out the most important arenas in Europe and sold out in Chile at the debut of an American leg that promises to be equally triumphant, Laura Pausini had revealed that she will return to Rome, which will be the sixth show in the capital in less than a year.
  • Theater. Authors, Actors and Audiences in Ancient Rome (All Month) – This exhibit will be held at the Ara Pacis Museum from from May 21st to November 3rd. The museum guest will be led ‘beyond’ the scene, inside the mechanisms of production, in the ‘actors’ dressing rooms’, on the stages and in the stands of ancient theatres. It is a living reconstruction, in which the protagonists themselves will involve the audience by telling their lives, the stories they interpreted, their role as authors or performers in a society so similar and at the same time so different from ours. This will be done through multimedia presentations created ad hoc.
