A Summer Packing List For Men Who Are Coming To Rome
Finding a summer packing list for men coming to Rome can be a challenge because most are focused on women so I wanted to offer a complete guide for the guys.
Packing for a trip to Rome is an exciting time, but if you are stressed about making sure you pack everything you might need, one thing to keep in mind is that Rome, and really all of the major cities in Italy, are very modern economies that will have anything you might need. This is another way of saying: Beyond a few things, like medicine or your computer, you can buy everything here if you forget to pack something, so don’t stress.
I previously wrote about a complete packing list for men who are coming to Rome, and you should DEFINITELY check it out. This article is more of a seasonal list of items you should consider bringing, in addition to that general list of items in the other article.
What Should Men Wear In Rome In The Summer?
There are a number of things to consider when packing for a summer in Rome and the most important one is that you are traveling in the summer heat. As rule of thumb you will want to consider including:
Lighter Walking Shoes – I don’t recommend waterproof shoes because you will be sweating all day in them and you want something that vents. Still, stability on the cobblestones will also be important. For me, sneakers are the best.
A Baseball Hat – Most people do not spend an entire week outdoors in the sun, so you will need some shade for your face, nose and head (more so if you are hair challenged). Keep in mind that you will need to remove your hat when entering religious sites, but most of these are indoors and not a problem.
Lightweight Pants and Shorts – Even in the summer you will need a pair of pants for an evening or early morning event. Also, there are quite a few mosquitoes in Rome, so covering your legs at dusk will be important if, like me, the mosquitoes love you. Shorts are the best thing to wear, but keep in mind that “officially” you can’t wear shorts in a church or basilica, but I have yet to see this rule enforced for men or women.
What Is The Weather In Rome In The Summer?
When I am referring to the summer, I mean the months of June, July and August, which is the most popular and hottest period of tourism in Rome. The weather in Rome in June is hot and getting hotter. The average low temperatures in Rome in June are delightful at 60°F (16°C) and the average high temperatures are still a comfortable 81°F (27°C). Rome in July is hot and it should not be underestimated. The average low temperatures in Rome in July are delightful at 65°F (18°C) and the average high temperatures are a comfortable 87°F (30°C). The weather in Rome in August is as hot as it gets and it should be accounted for. The average low temperatures in Rome in August are delightful at 65°F (18°C) and the average high temperatures are a comfortable 87°F (30°C).
Summer Packing List For Men Coming To Rome
As I mentioned, this list includes items are specific to summer travel for men coming to Rome, but be sure to review the Complete Packing List For Men because many of these items are the same:
Pre-Packing Requirements – No Change
Packing Documentation – No Change
Packing Technology – No Change
Packing Entertainment – No Change
As for summer travel, these items are in addition to the ones listed as a part of the Complete Packing List:
Packing Toiletries & Medicine – Be sure to include sunscreen, talcum powder (I applicable), sunburn treatment and lip balm. A reusable water bottle, some vitamins and an electrolyte replacement powder will save you if you are on a tour during one of the hotter summer days.
Packing Clothing – You should definitely pack a hat. Also, consider how much you sweat, and where. If you think it might be needed, more underwear, socks and t-shirts might be a good idea. Especially if you aren’t planning on having laundry done during your trip. It is also more likely that you might need a swimsuit and/or flip-flops, depending on your plans.
