Rome In June – The Best Guide For A Perfect Rome Vacation
Visiting Rome in June can be an exciting time because the weather is warm and the crowds have arrived to enjoy the beauty and culture of this amazing city.
Is Rome In June A Good Month To Visit?
As someone who lives here, anytime is a great time to visit Rome. Keep in mind, however, that the crowds are expected to be the largest ever this season and the heat can definitely get oppressive. But don’t let that dissuade you from making plans to visit the Eternal City. You can adjust your schedule to minimize the crowds and the heat and still have an amazing time here in Rome. Some recommendations:
Do outdoor activities, like visiting the Colosseum, early in the morning.
Save the midday for indoor activities, like visiting museums, or better yet, take a nap.
Be sure to make reservations for every restaurant, tourist site and train ride well in advance of your trip.
Follow these recommendations and you should have an amazing time, despite the crowds and the heat.
Is Rome In June Cheap?
Italy is one of the cheaper countries in Europe for tourists visiting Rome, but June is considered high-season and it will be hard to find savings as compared to off-season. You should keep in mind that Rome is a popular destination year-round and prices anytime of the year can still be relatively high. It is unlikely that you will still be able to find any remaining discounts on Flights and Hotels, and definitely don’t expect to find any great savings on restaurants or cultural activities.
Because Rome is a popular tourist destination all year round, it’s a good idea to book in advance for your hotels, flights and even restaurants once you arrive. If you are looking for other ways to save money, it’s also worth considering staying in neighborhoods outside of the historic center (centro storico), where you might be able to find more affordable accommodation options and allow you to experience a more authentic side of Rome.
Is Rome Too Hot In June?
This all depends on your tolerance for heat. Don’t underestimate the heat, wear comfortable clothing and drink a lot of water. One of the great things about Rome is that there are water fountains all over the city offering the weary traveler delicious, cool and very refreshing water to keep you hydrated for the long day in the sun. Be sure to take advantage of that, and consider bringing or buying some electrolyte powders available at most pharmacies (Farmacia).
How Should I Dress In Rome In June?
You should be dressing as lightly as your sense of style will allow during the heat of the day, but plan for more seasonable evenings when it is time to go to dinner. Shorts, t-shirts, tank-tops, polo shirts and other light clothing are generally acceptable, except for when you are visiting religious sites, like churches, which is likely. You should expect that women need to cover their shoulders, men and women need pants that go below the knees and men can’t wear baseball caps. In the evening, pants and jackets should be comfortable when you go out to dinner (after 8:00 PM).
Is It OK To Wear Jeans In Rome?
There is no problem wearing jeans in Rome, with the exception of the heat during the day. It is totally acceptable to wear jeans in churches or other religious sites, and unless you like very fancy restaurants, you can also wear them out to dinner without sticking out. The same generally goes for sneakers as well. Just don’t wear flip-flops anywhere but the beach.
