The Best Western Plus Hotel Spring House

For some Americans, and I am including my past self, the Best Western Hotel chain has seen better days. It is not a popular place to stay in the US and the quality was spotty. In Europe, however, the Best Western is a good quality hotel chain that you need to consider, and this 4-Star hotel is no exception. They offer a free airport taxi and free cancellations that make your visit that much easier. You can check out more pictures or make a reservation for the Best Western Plus Hotel Spring House here.

Questions About Hotels Near The Vatican In Rome

What Are The Top 2 “Must Sees” If You Come To Vatican City?

It would be difficult to narrow down what you need to see in Vatican City because there are so many things nested under larger things. For example, the Sistine Chapel is a definite “Must See”, but that is part of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel complex. Also, of course you will need to see St. Peter’s Basilica, but even within that you will want to include a climb up the Cupola for an amazing view and explore the Piazza San Pietro for hidden treasures.

Is Vatican City A Good Area To Stay In Rome?

Vatican City itself and the surrounding Rome neighborhood of Prati are both very safe areas. Rome and Vatican City, in general, are as safe as any major European city. While petty crime is more common, like pickpocketing and purse snatching, violent crime is very rare. Because of the high level of tourism, Vatican City has a pretty high level of these petty crimes, but simple precautions should be enough.

Can You Stay In Vatican City?

There are no hotels within the walls of Vatican City, but there are quite a large number that surround the city. Some people claim that the Residenza Paolo VI is within the confines of Vatican City, but I believe it is about as close as you can get, but still outside the borders. If you want to be close, this is definitely a good choice, but technically it is across the street even though their website claims it is directly on St. Peter’s Square. If you are outside the colonnade, then you aren’t on the piazza.

What Is The Closest City To The Vatican?

Vatican City is a city-state, which means it is a single city that acts like a country, that is totally contained within the city of Rome. You don’t have to worry about a visa or passport issues because if you are able to be in Rome, then you can travel to Vatican City without any customs or passport control issues.

What Is The Best Safest Area To Stay In Rome?

Rome, in general, is as safe as any major European city. While petty crime is more common, like pickpocketing and purse snatching, violent crime is very rare. There are some areas that you might want to avoid at night, like around Termini station, but the areas around the Colosseum are safe and residential, so even going out at night isn’t too risky.

Is It Better To Stay Near The Vatican Or The Colosseum?

This totally depends on what you plan to focus on. If you are only interested in the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica or the Vatican Museums, then you obviously should stay in or near Vatican City. If you have other interests, I wouldn’t recommend staying near the Vatican, because it is on the outside of the historical center and beyond the Tiber river. You can easily use public transportation to get to other areas in Rome, but it will add significant travel time that you might not want.
